While I have been in “clean-out” mode and organizing all the closets and cabinets in our home, I have been sharing some of my tips and tricks on my Instagram Stories (follow along with me HERE). One of the tips I shared last week got a lot of attention and people were so thankful I shared it so I thought I would share it here as well. I have been using this system for years. It is the best way to organize winter gear so you can always find exactly what you need. You will never lose a mitten or glove again. This way to organize winter gear will keep everything together and visible.
It is so simple that I never even thought about posting about it here, but I have to change that! It is the simplest things that we all look for so I need to post all of the simple things from now on.

The Supply Needed To Organize Winter Gear:
(Yep, just one supply)
Clear Over the Door Hanging Pantry Organizer
This organizer actually keeps pairs of gloves and mittens together and since it is clear, you can see what is in each pocket. (I have made the mistake of buying one that wasn’t clear. Don’t do it.) I really like how much these organizers hold too. I double and triple up some pockets, especially for the kid-sized things.
This particular organizer comes in a set of two. I use one for the winter supplies and I put the other one on the inside of our linen closet door for things like deodorant, face wash, toothpaste, etc.
To organize winter gear you have to start by going through them all and purging what you don’t need. There are so many people in need during the winter months for hats, mittens and scarves. Check with some of your local organizations to see if they are taking donations and take what you aren’t using there.
Once you have gone through them all, organize them by person, color or item. Once it is filled, hang it over whatever door is convenient for you. I put ours inside the hall closet where all of our coats and boots are kept.
This system is perfect for kids. They can see exactly what is in each pocket. They will never lose a mitten or glove again. (Well, never say never, but this system really does help keep them all together.) When our kids were smaller, I used the bottom pockets for them so they could reach them easily.
This is such a simple way to organize winter gear of all types. I hope this helps you finally get a handle on the baskets of winter supplies that are overflowing with single gloves and mittens.
