This 10 Tips To A Successful Back Yard Party post is sponsored by WayFair. All opinions are my own.
It is that time of year when we can start entertaining outdoors! It is always fun utilizing the yard as extended “square footage” of your home. Being able to move from indoors to outdoors while gathering with family and friends always makes for a fun and relaxing party. I have put together 10 Tips To A Successful Back Yard Party to share with you today. These are tips that will make your back yard party easy to plan and less stressful to put together.
Let’s get to the party plannin’!
Invitations: Invitations don’t have to be extravagant but they should be sent out early so your guests can plan accordingly. The summer months get busy and people are traveling a lot so you want to pick a date that everyone can attend!
Food: Plan your menu early. Take time to think about the food that will be easy to prepare and easy to eat at the party. Grill as much as you can! Set up a buffet-style table near the grill so that guests can serve themselves and the mess stays outside.
Drinks: Drinks are just as important as the food. Make one signature cocktail for the party and have other options like iced tea, wine, soda, beer, water, etc. as well.
Games: Yard games are the best!!! We have many yard games and always bring them out when company is over. It is fun to set up game “stations” throughout the yard so kids and adults can help themselves to the games as they wish. WayFair has some of our favorite yard games. The Wood Dice Set is so fun because you can play many different games with the set. The Connect 4 In A Row game is one of our family’s favorites. Having a bigger version of the board game to play outdoors makes it that much more fun! All kids, big and small, love the Wooden Bowling Set. We have had many bowling tournaments in our back yard. Lawn games make any back yard party successful.
Decor: Every party needs party decor. You don’t have to make it over the top or spend a ton of money to make it festive. As always, shop your home and use what you have. Think outside of the box and add little touches here and there to make the yard party-ready.
Lighting: If your party is going to run into the evening, make sure to have ample lighting for the event. String lights come in all shapes, sizes and styles. Pick up some that will make your party sparkle!
Music: What’s a party without music? Set up outdoor speakers with party music playing lightly in the background.
Yard Prep: This is a big one. Just like an indoor party that you need to clean your home for, a successful back yard party involves yard clean-up and prep. Mow your lawn, clean out your flower beds and if bugs are an issue, prep your yard with bug treatment and/or add citronella candles around the yard.
Seating: Seating is essential for your back yard party. This can include lawn chairs, hay bales or picnic blankets. Think about who is attending the party and what kind of seating you will need to accommodate each guest.
Neighbors: If is always a nice idea to let your neighbors know when you are having a back yard party. Invite them to the gathering if they are great neighbors. If not, at least let them know when the party is happening.
Entertaining during the warmer months is always fun. I love being able to use the outdoors during parties.
