5 Ways To Make Your Holiday Season Stress Free

3 Mins read

Christmas is right around the corner. I am ready! This year, I made sure to do five things that would guarantee to make my holiday season stress free and more enjoyable. I am tired of rushing through the holidays trying to get everything done and out of the way without enjoying any of it.

Not this year.

I am ahead of schedule and have a ton of things already crossed off my to-do list.

This is how I did it.

Advent Calendar:

Not only do my kids love having an Advent Calendar every year, but it is a schedule life-saver for me during the busy month of December. The Advent Calendar holds me accountable for all the traditions we want to do during the season. Making cookies and homemade ornaments are a tradition for us and if I didn’t put them in the Advent Calendar, we might forget about them because we get caught up in our hectic schedule.

Holidays are all about making memories and building traditions and I am not about to lose either one of those because our schedule wants us to. Around Thanksgiving, I sit down with the family calendar and “schedule” the Advent calendar. I write down twenty-five activities we want to do during the season and then I look over our schedule and see which days/nights are good for each activity. This way, we still keep our schedule, but we are able to fit in all our holiday traditions as well. This makes my holiday season stress free on so many levels.

Baking Stock Pile:

There is something about winter that makes me want to bake and Christmas is a huge baking season. Every year, we bake cookies and treats to pass out to our family and friends. Our kids love this tradition. (I even plan a baking day on our Advent calendar 🙂 ). Instead of running around like a mad woman every time we want to bake, I make sure and stock up on all our baking needs around Thanksgiving or the beginning of December.

There are usually great sales and deals going on at that time and I get all the baking shopping done in one day. That ensures that when the baking bug strikes, we are ready to go and makes my holiday season stress free.

Wrapping Station:

I can’t tell you how much time this saves. Every year after Christmas, I shop the clearance at many stores. One of my favorite things to stock up on at that time is wrapping supplies. Then, when we get the Christmas decorations out, I set aside the gift wrap goodies I picked up the year before. I designate a spot in the house where all the gift wrap supplies will be.

That way, as soon as I get a gift, I head to that spot and get the gift wrapped right away. Gone are the days of wrapping a million gifts at one time. Who has time for that? See how I am wrapping gifts to make the process easier and less stressful HERE.

Cleaning Schedule:

The not-so-fun part. But, it has to be done. I try to stick to a “schedule” with cleaning and do it often so it is not a big job every time. The same thing with laundry. If I can do a few smaller loads every other day, then I am not spending one entire day trying to get many large loads done. No one wants to stress about cleaning so doing it this way makes my holiday season stress free because I can stay on top of it.

Holiday Necessities:

When you hear the words “holiday necessities” what comes to mind?

Candy canes? Misletoe? Gifts? Christmas cards?

What about toilet paper, Kleenex and paper towels?

Yep!

I have been there. You think you have everything under the sun for your holiday celebration and find out you are out of paper towels or toilet paper. Then, you find yourself spending an arm and a leg at a convenience store on Christmas Eve to get some.

Not this year.

This year, the Cottonelle® Toilet Paper gets a fun galvanized bucket! I will set it next to the toilet in the bathroom. This makes it is easy for our guests to find it and it will be easier for me to see when we are running low on toilet paper.
