Thanksgiving is over. Are you in a turkey coma? Do you still have leftovers you are trying to reinvent into different dishes? I put away all the pumpkins and copper mugs from our Thanksgiving tablescape and got to work putting together a fun Christmas tablescape.
When I started planning this tablescape, I wanted to do something different. I didn’t want the table to be set for a dinner party, but more of a quiet night home with the four of us. This Hot Cocoa Christmas tablescape is perfect for that.
I wanted to set the table to make it whimsical, vintage and a little bit farmhouse. I wanted to embrace a warm table that was conducive for hot cocoa drinking and dunking. Yep. Dunking. Hot cocoa is always better when you have a cookie to dunk in it.
This table could not have come together any easier. I used all things I had around the house so it didn’t cost anything either.
I gave the entire family reindeer names and put them in reindeer place card holders I bought on clearance last year. We also each got a corn cob pipe. I thought they were fun and a welcomed addition for a cold winter night enjoying hot cocoa together.
I put Christmas pillows on each chair and I laid a throw on the bench. That simple touch made the Christmas tablescape feel so much more cozy.
I added three small trees to the middle of the table with pine cones, bells and a twig runner I bought at a yard sale.
The Santa mugs are the cutest!
I added a string of lights from Target that I got on clearance at 90% after Halloween. They were 30¢!!! If you don’t shop stores after each holiday, you need to start. I find such great deals on things I can use all year round that way.
The juxtaposition of vintage pieces, rustic touches and sparkly napkin rings and place card holders makes me happy.

This Christmas tablescape was a lot of fun to put together. Our kids’ faces lit up when they saw it and they were so happy to take a night off, unplug from everything and enjoy hot cocoa, goodies and Christmas music around this tablescape. This is what is important and this is when memories are made.
