There are a lot of things we clean on a weekly basis; the floors, the bathtub, the sinks, the toilets, etc. And then there are other things that we should be cleaning, but they aren’t on our radar and we forget about them. Makeup brushes are usually on that list. We know we should clean them. We know it is important and healthier for our skin, but we just never get around to it. A lot of times we think these kinds of things are a pain to wash or it will be a long, drawn-out process so keep putting it on the bottom of the cleaning list and it never gets done. You don’t need a fancy kit or machine to clean your makeup brushes. I am going to show you how to clean makeup brushes at home naturally and easily.

Supplies: How To Clean Makeup Brushes At Home:
Distilled Water
Castille Soap
Fractionated Coconut Oil
Lavender Essential Oil
A great way to stay consistent with cleaning your makeup brushes, is to make sure you have enough of this solution to last a couple of cleanings. If you already have it made, it is more convenient to clean them.
To make enough solution to last more than a few cleanings, mix together 1 cup distilled water, 3 tsp. castille soap, 1 tsp. coconut oil and 5 drops Lavender essential oil. Sometimes I buy the scented castille soap so I don’t add the essential oils, but the essential oils are so good for your skin so I will add them anyway. You can put as much or as little as you like in the mixture really. If there is another essential oil you like, use that one.

That’s it! You just put some of the solution into a small bowl and mix your brushes inside of the mixture, rinse the bristles and then lay them down on a dry towel to fully dry. Do not dry the brushes upright because the water will go inside the handle part of the brush and ruin them.
Easy peasy and now you can put your makeup brushes on the cleaning calendar right along with the bathtub and sinks!
When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes?
