These DIY glittered ornaments came out better than I thought they would so I wanted to share the project here on the blog.

We started decorating for Christmas after Halloween. I know that is early for a lot of people, but I have blog deadlines for the holidays early, so that means I have to decorate early. Matt usually sets up and fluffs the Christmas tree while I run around and decorate the rest of the house.
After Matt had the tree up and fluffed, I wrapped some of my wood bead garlands around it. I also added some felt ball garland to it. Then, it sat that way for a few weeks. I was fine with a “naked” tree this year. I thought maybe a simple tree with just the garland would be great.
Then, I ran into a friend who was making homemade ornaments. She was mod podging napkins to wood ornaments. She had bright, red and green, holiday napkins she was adding to the ornaments. I thought it was a fun craft idea, but didn’t think much more about it.
Then, while I was sharing one of my Target shopping trips on Instagram (you can find me on Instagram HERE), I came across the Hearth and Hand holiday napkins. They were so simple, with a black and white design that they really caught my eye. I have been keeping the color palette to black, green and white with the Christmas decor so the napkins would fit right in. Once I thought about it some more, and saw that the package of 14 was only $2.99, I wanted to make some glittered ornaments to go in our naked tree.
Supplies Used For These DIY Glittery Christmas Ornaments:
Wood Christmas Ornaments
Extra Fine Glitter
School Glue
Water
Xacto Knife
Holiday Paper Napkins
Scissors
Craft Paint
I made a video to show how I made these from start to finish:
I love the way they turned out. They are so simple and yet add a lot of whimsy to our tree. I used two different napkin designs on the ornaments and then I did a couple of striped ornaments using wrapping paper I found at TJ Maxx.
I knew I didn’t want to just put anything on our tree. If I was going to add something to it, I wanted it to be different from years passed or I was fine with having the naked tree.
These glittered ornaments we so easy to make and I love the simplicity of them so much. It was perfect for our tree this year. The possibilities with this project are endless. Napkins come in all colors and designs that you could really do anything you wanted on these. The super fine glitter just puts the sparkly icing on the cake. I was never, ever a glitter person because of the mess, but the super fine stuff has stolen my heart a little bit. I have used it on a few things now.
This easy project is perfect to get the kids and grandkids involved. Turn on your favorite Christmas movie and create away!
