Weekly Cleaning Checklist

3 Mins read

This Weekly Cleaning Checklist will make the cleaning process less overwhelming while keeping your home clean and your weekends free from chores.

Hello. My name is Lindsay and I make lists. I can make a list for just about anything; groceries, errands, chores, cleaning, etc. I don’t know if I necessarily like making lists, but crossing things off those lists is something I LOVE to do. The magic happens when I can cross things off any list I make. I think that is the real reason I make lists for everything. Can you relate to that? Making lists just so you can cross things off that list? Lists keep me motivated and ensure that I don’t forget anything. It is also the reason I keep a pen and paper next to my bed and the reason I can’t fall asleep at night sometimes – the lists never end.

Spring cleaning season is upon us, so I thought I would share my weekly cleaning checklist.

I hate cleaning on the weekends so this checklist keeps me on track during the week so I can make sure my weekends are free of cleaning chores. The checklist also has me crossing things off the list all week-long so I feel very productive. The act of crossing things off the list makes me feel productive. 🙂

TIP*** I like to print and laminate lists like this so I can use a dry erase marker to cross things off and then erase it and reuse it over and over again.

I have shared this many times on Instagram (if you aren’t following me there, head HERE to find me), but I have an issue with cleaning. I need to have everything cleaned and in order before I can tackle anything else. If I need to create something, the room I am creating in, needs to be orderly and picked up. If it isn’t, I am constantly thinking about the mess and not concentrating on the project at hand.

I get nothing done when the house isn’t cleaned and picked up. It is this subconscious thing that happens and I find myself cleaning and picking up and not doing the work that needs to get done.

I am also someone who loves to clean when I am stressed or mad about something. I don’t know what it is, but those times are my best cleaning sessions. Some people like to work out when they are stressed or mad, I clean. While all of this is good….. sometimes, I needed to figure out a way to be more productive, get the cleaning done and move on with each day. A weekly cleaning checklist helps so much.

We don’t have a big home, but for someone like me, it can take a long time to get the entire house clean like I like it. Sometimes, I can get it done in one day, but a lot of times, I find it easier to break up the cleaning chores throughout the week.

I like to clean everything at least once a week. There are certain rooms, like the bathroom, that require “quick cleans” in between the major clean days. If I can clean the sink, toilet and floor a couple of times a week then it makes me feel better and it takes just a few minutes in between the bigger cleaning day. I also find that when I am “quick cleaning” the higher traffic areas in between the bigger cleaning days, the cleaning is so much easier on the bigger cleaning days.

Spring cleaning is fun when you can open the windows, turn on your favorite music, and enjoy the process.

It doesn’t have to take all day and it shouldn’t. Break the cleaning chores into different days of the week. Spend less time doing chores and more time doing the things you love to do. If you are wanting to get more cleaning done and spending more time doing the things you love on the weekend, download my weekly cleaning checklist HERE.

Having a clean home is something I want all the time. It has really helped me to break up the cleaning chores into different days to get it all done. There is nothing better than coming home to a clean home. Not having to worry about cleaning for hours on end any more.
