10 Fall Decor Items To Buy At The Thrift Store
Baskets
If I have said it once, I will say it a thousand times. DO NOT skip the basket section at your thrift stores – especially for fall decor. The colors and textures of baskets add an instant touch of fall all on their own. Baskets come in all shapes and sizes which means the decorative possibilities are endless. Flat ones are great to hang on the wall. Flat-backed baskets are great to hang on doors and in entries with fall foliage inside. Deep baskets are great to fill with plaid throws for the cooler, fall months. DO NOT skip the basket section!
Fall Faux Stems
Every thrift store has faux stems, greenery, wreaths, etc. I ALWAYS look in these sections for decor for fall. I have found all kinds of great stems and natural fillers for the fall season. Make sure to always keep an open mind. I have picked up wreaths many times just for the items on them. I don’t like the wreath itself, but there may be things on the wreath that are amazing. Also, I have picked up wreaths for the wreath form itself and removed everything on it, and tossed it. Always look for fall stems, wreath items, leaves, etc. at your thrift stores.
Candles
The easiest way to add warmth and coziness to your house for fall is through candlelight. This can be done with faux or real candles and thrift stores are usually full of both. Candles are the perfect addition to any space for fall.
Candlestick Holders
You can do so much with candlestick holders for fall. They can hold candles, but if you find chunkier ones, they can make great “pedestals” for pumpkins. I love the look of old brass candlesticks. Having a collection of those on your mantel with cream-colored candlesticks is so pretty during the fall season.
Welcome fall into your home without spending a lot of money by grabbing these items at the thrift store!
Brass Accents
When I was growing up, my mom had brass decor pieces in our home. Who knew it would come back? She did. She always told me things would come back around. I love brass accents for the home any time of year but there is something extra special about it during the fall months.
Faux Pumpkins
Faux pumpkins can be expensive in retail stores but you can find them in thrift stores for next to nothing. Thrift stores are full of them around the fall season. I have scored so many different versions – wood, glass, clay, etc. If you don’t like the color, paint them. There are many ways to make them over to fit the style of your home.
Plaid Throws and Blankets
I love plaid blankets and throws in the fall. They add instant coziness to a space. Browse your local thrift stores for them. I have found many, vintage plaid blankets over the years.
Wood Vases
I love wood vases and vessels. I am always on the hunt for them. They are a great addition to fall because of their warmth and color.
Wood Bowls
Wood bowls are like wood vases. They add a lot of warmth and they are perfect for holding fall fruit, faux fall stems, and/or pumpkins.
Copper Decor
Along with brass, copper is another beautiful metal for the fall months. It is classic and can really add a lot of charm and character to a space.
