These DIY terra cotta acorns were very easy to make with two paint products and ceramic acorns from the dollar store.
Terra cotta is so pretty and it comes in a lot of different shades. I love the look of old, terra cotta pots and clay and I wanted to bring that look into our home for fall. I found the most amazing terra cotta paint and was so excited to try it out on a small project.

Supplies Used In These Terra Cotta Acorns:
Steps For DIY Terra Cotta Acorns:
- I picked up these copper and silver acorns at Dollar Tree. They were the perfect size to try the new terra cotta paint and perfect for fall.
- I bought this set of terra cotta paints.
- I painted each acorn with Slick Stick. This primer ensures that paint will stick to slick surfaces as the acorns had.
- Once the Slick Stick dried, I put a different colored terra cotta paint on each acorn.
- Once the first coat dried, I did have to apply another coat of paint to cover them completely.
The terra cotta colors in this set are STUNNING!
Look how pretty these acorns look with the terra cotta colors!
I even loved the two white colors in the set.
One of my favorite things about this paint is that it has texture so it feels like real terra cotta!
I am so smitten with this set of paints that I am now on the hunt for all the things I can make look like old terra cotta pieces.
I did a live video of the first time I tried these paints.
You can watch how easy they were to apply and what I saw and learned the first time I used them. Watch that video HERE.
What do you think of the colors? Would you use these paints and colors in your home?
