Learn how to transform an old clock into a stylish, functional cabinet with this repurposed clock cabinet tutorial.
One of my favorite things about projects like this is the stories that come with them. Matt, Landen, and I were in one of our favorite small towns near us. They were having town-wide garage sales that day. A lot of people in this town who don’t want to host a sale but still want to get rid of things will set things out on the curb for free. We were early and came upon a lot of stuff on the curb. I got out and found a few great things to bring home. As I picked up this clock, a car pulled up behind ours and three people rushed out, grabbing things left and right. They didn’t care that I was there looking at things. They just grabbed it as I was looking at it. These hunters weren’t messing around. HAHA.
I was so glad we got there first because (in my opinion) I got all the best stuff. 😉 This clock was one of them.
This clock wasn’t anything fancy or a rare antique. I knew I could make it over and find another use for it.

Supplies Used In This Repurposed Clock Cabinet
Saw (if need to cut wood to add a shelf)
Scrap Wood
Nail Gun
Steps For This Easy Makeover
- First, clean the clock.
- Next, remove all the “clock” pieces.
- Then, fill any holes with MUD.
- Sand the cabinet well to prep it for paint.
- Wipe away all the sanding dust with a damp cloth.
- Apply the BOSS primer all over the piece.
- Once the BOSS is completely dry, it is time to paint.
- You can add a topcoat to this piece if you want. I did not with mine.
- We measured the inside and cut a scrap board from the garage to fit.
- I stained the board in a “Walnut” gel stain.
- We attached the shelf with nails.
I love this little cabinet now!
It has so many uses. It would be so pretty to display perfume bottles or Santa mugs at Christmas.
What other uses can you come up with? There are so many!
