This Black Matte Furniture Paint is beautiful!
Last week, I received some Happy Mail that I unboxed on my Instagram stories. Dixie Belle Paint Company has come out with some new paint colors that I have been super excited to try. As we are getting ready for our huge fall yard sale, there were a couple of pieces I rescued recently that were in need of a make over.
This small drum table has been in the garage for a few weeks. It has been untouched because I just didn’t have the right paint color for it. I knew it needed a certain color to bring out its beauty.

This poor little table has seen better days. It was sturdy when I picked it up, but the finish was not good at all. I knew it would be beautiful once it had a couple of coats of paint on it. I love so many different paint colors, but this little table spoke to me (like some pieces do) and I knew it would have to be the right color to bring this table to its full potential.
When I opened the box from Dixie Belle Paint Company and saw the “Caviar” color, I knew immediately that this little drum table that could had met its soul mate. “Caviar” it is.
“Caviar” is a deep black color. When I opened the container, I wasn’t expecting it to be a full, matte color.
I was amazed after the first coat dried. I was smitten! “Caviar” is a true black, matte furniture paint color. Gorgeous.
*Side Note: I need to interrupt your regular blog post and bring you a side note. I always get asked about paint so I wanted to describe this paint to you. Dixie Belle Paint is a chalk mineral paint. It is thicker than other paints I use and I think that is covers really well in one coat. (At least, the “Caviar” did.) I am a fan of the plastic containers they package the paint in. The shape and size make it easy to hold when I am painting.
We now return to your regularly scheduled blog post. 🙂
After two coats of paint, the little drum table looks totally different! This black matte furniture paint is a game changer!
I love black moments in every room. I think that a touch of black here and there really grounds the room and adds a classic touch. No matter what style you have in your home, touches of black will enhance it. It gives the eyes a place to rest, it stands out, and yet it’s neutral. If you shy away from using black in your decor, try it in little spots first. You will love it. Trust me.
I brought the table into our back porch and put it on the other side of our sofa. Our back porch is a place to relax and watch TV. I had a bulkier side table in this spot and now that the little drum table has made its debut, I don’t know if I will move it?? It takes up less space and gives the room that touch of black to match the grate over our TV.
We don’t need a ton of table space on this side of the sofa. We just need space for a drink and maybe the TV remote. Oh, and some space to decorate because that is extremely important to the lady of the house. We get all of that with the drum table.
The porch feels more open with the drum table here.
I don’t know.
The jury is still out.
Will it stay in this spot? Will I find another place for it? Who knows. Give me a few weeks and then I will know.
It always takes me a few weeks of living with something to know if I love it. It is funny. I will put something new in the house and then at random times throughout the next few days, I will get gut feelings that are swaying one way or another.
Weird, I know, but it works so well for decorating our home!
I will definitely be painting more pieces in “Caviar” from Dixie Belle Paint Co. Once our huge yard sale is over. I have been looking for a great black matte furniture paint color. Nothing is safe now. I see this color on so many pieces.
Until then, I have more colors they sent me to drool over and plan for. Sometimes, when I see a paint color, I know what would look great in that color. I have a few ideas brewing with the other paint colors. Some pieces I have to find and others, I already have.
There is nothing more fun than getting a box of new products to create with. It is my happy place. It challenges me and keeps me doing what I love the most.

I want to paint a spare bedroom that was once my daughter’s room but she has moved out and on her own but I wanted to turn it into a home office but I wanted a bright color. I’m deciding between Daisy or Dixie Belle blue.
Love the peacock
Do you find that the matte black becomes “chalky ” or ghosty (I’m going with that word lol) when you bump it, or rub your finger on it? Did you seal your drum table with anything? I’m running into trouble bc I LOVE the matte black but it gets ghosty with bumps or handling. Thanks for your insights and thoughts!
I know exactly what you are talking about. I didn’t seal this table, but I have done many in the past. I would recommend using a matte seal though so you still get the look of a matte finish and it doesn’t get to glossy. I love this one: Clear Coat Flat from Dixie Belle Paint (aff) http://www.dixiebellepaintcompany.com/shop/?aff=15
Beautiful color. I was wondering with all the furniture you paint what is your go too wax? Do you have a favorite top coat?
Thank you for sharing all your furniture transformations!
I do like matte top coats. I don’t always wax. Sometimes I add an antique wax. I have used and like this one {aff} https://amzn.to/2Ffj1qX
