This Curbside Cabinet Makeover was so fun to do!
I have a problem.
A big problem.
If I see a piece on the curb that has tons of potential, I have to pick it up.
Even if we don’t have room for it.
Even after I have purged the entire house and garage and am getting ready for the biggest yard sale we have ever had.
Yep.
Still have to do it.
I can’t help myself. The entire process is so much fun and I know if I can’t keep it, someone else will love it after we are done working on it.
It has been awhile since I have found anything worth-while on the side of the curb, but that all changed last week.
This cabinet was just waiting for me to swoop it up.
When I saw it, the hinges and “shiplapped” sides and top drew me in.
It was an older cabinet that just needed a good cleaning and some paint to make it happy again.
I started working on this piece as soon as I got it home. I scrubbed it clean. Then, I removed all of the contact paper it had on the inside.
When I removed the contact paper on the bottom shelf, I found this!
It is a built-in ruler or something on the shelf.
This must have been a part of a work bench in someone’s garage at one time?
Maybe they had these in old kitchen cabinets?
Whatever it is, I love finding things like this in pieces I rescue because it adds even more character and story to the pieces.

After I opened the box of paints and supplies from Dixie Belle Paint Company, and tried “Caviar” on the end table I put in our back porch, I couldn’t wait to try each and every one of the other colors. This curbside cabinet makeover had the color, “Drop Cloth” from Dixie Belle Paint all over it before I got it home. I couldn’t wait to bust that can open and get it on something.
After I tried “Caviar” from Dixie Belle Paint on the end table I put in our back porch, I couldn’t wait to try each and every one of the other colors they sent me.
“Drop Cloth” was the perfect color for this curbside cabinet makeover. I loved that color when I first saw it so I was eager to open the can and get it on something. Thank you curbside angels for bringing me a piece to put it on.
This curbside cabinet makeover doesn’t even look like the same piece. It is beautiful!
“Drop Cloth” is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
It really does resemble the color of a drop cloth, but in a really pretty way.
I wasn’t planning on keeping the curbside cabinet, but once I got it in my office to take the photos, I fell in love with it in the space. It is a little bigger than the cabinet I originally had, but I like the color of this cabinet in the office. Now, I have to decide which cabinet to keep. I love them both!
We are going to put new flooring in the office. The carpet needs to go. I want something that my chair can roll on easier and I also need flooring that can easily be cleaned if paint happens to end up on the floor. #messypainter
I didn’t paint the inside of the cabinet because I like the character it has inside.
Call me strange, but I do.
If I do decide to keep this cabinet, I will have it full of supplies and props so I won’t get to see the character anyway.
We had the TV on the other cabinet I had here. I will have to put it on this one and see if I still like it as much.
It is crazy, but the family will come into my office and watch TV while I am working on the computer. It is the sweetest thing ever and I hope they will always do it so the TV is not going anywhere.
I have some decisions to make in the office. In the mean time, I would love to know what you think. Would you have picked up this cabinet from the curb? Which cabinet do you like better in this space? This one or the other one I linked to?

I love this price so much and how it is set up there is perfect. I would have left the inside as is also as I love history of old things and collect a lot of it. I am like the song I was country when country wasn’t cool
Sorry was supposed to say piece not price lol
🙂 I got it!
Yes. I just love leaving some of the character when I can.
Was wondering if you announced the winner for the Dixie Belle giveaway
Yep. They are in the post!
Lindsey your eye for beauty in nearly everything is inspiring. This large cabinet was very well done. I liked that you kept the wood look inside.
Thank you so much!
I think you did a great job. The only change I would make would be to add roller wheels. At 75 moving furniture is like exercise!
I would have definitely pocket it up. It’s a hard choice to make for sure. They are both pretty.
It was a good find!!
What a great find and I am jealous. It came out wonderful and I can understand your not wanting to part with it. I absolutely love find treasures that have been discarded and repurposing them. I am even rubbing off on my grandson (11 years old). We saw a desk chair that someone was getting rid off and he spotted. I pulled over and said go check it out. Guess what, it went in the car and to his house. Someone’s trash can be someone else treasure. 🙂
Yes! I totally agree!!! It is so much fun! I am hoping our kids will get into it more as well.
