This DIY Outdoor Wall Clock was made possible by yet, another dumpster find.
What’s a DIY fanatic to do when she sees a perfectly good table in her neighbor’s dumpster?
Ummmm……… jump in it and grab it, that’s what.
To be more precise, walk inside the HUGE dumpster and roll it out of there and down the street into our garage.
There’s no shame in my game.
I asked the owners where the base to the table was.
Their response: “We just got done demolishing it.”
What?
I don’t understand why people do that! This old table was beautiful and to know the base was intact until they ruined it kills me!
The table has been sitting in my garage since I got it and the other day I decided to pull it out and start working on it.
First, I painted it white.
Then, I dry brushed over the white paint with brown and gray paint.
Next, I painted clock numbers on it.
(Thank you Cricut for making numbers and letters so much easier for projects like this.)
Now, the clock needed some hands.
I drew some arrows on scrap wood and Hubby cut them out.
I painted them the same gray color I used on the table top.
Hubby secured the arrows to the table.
I distressed them a little bit with sandpaper.
The clock hands move.
It’s always 5:00 around here. 😉

This clock would look great on the side of a barn, on a garage or as a backdrop in a garden or landscaped yard.
My dumpster dive paid off.
I saved the landfill and gave the kiddos a fun activity to use in the yard. My daughter likes to change the time on the clock as she is serving different meals from her backyard kitchen.
Have you ever dumpster dived? What was the best thing you saved?
Don’t have time to make an outdoor wall clock? I found some beautiful options online:

Have I ever dumpster dived??? Heck yea! A lady had called me because she was moving and had a few things to sell (I own an antique shop)… I got there and found a huge dumpster in the driveway. After purchasing some “not so great” stuff from her I asked if she would mind if I took a look around in the dumpster. She agreed and three hours or so later I climbed out… After rescuing countless vintage clothing and linen items, several great kitchen pieces and an advertising pitcher from an old grocery store in the town we live in. Funny thing was, when I showed her the pitcher, she wanted to keep it. I offered her $50 and she let me take it home with me 🙂 I made a hundred dollars or so off of what I bought from her and at least a $1000 off what I saved from the landfill! I love me some dumpster diving!
What a great story!!! I would be right in that dumpster too!
What a neat idea! Great job! You could also paint “Time stands still in the garden” on it.
Thank you!!!
