This DIY plug-in pendant light is so so easy to make and doesn’t take a lot of time to do.
Matt and I have been making plug-in pendant lights from all kinds of things. Once we found out how easy it was to do, everything I found looked like a light fixture. 🙂 You can find a few of the lights we have made for our home in these posts: DIY Barn Lighting For Back Porch , DIY Light Fixtures For The Kitchen, DIY Plug In Wall Sconce For Headboard.
To say we love a good light project is an understatment.
This particular plug-in pendant light came about when we were visiting my parents. My mom had this planter from the yard in her back porch. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do with it, but I immediately saw it as a plug-in pendant light.
As a planter, the base is at the bottom, but once I saw the light potential, the base would become the top. Not only did I love the look of it this way, but the base being on the top gave the perfect spot for the bulb and the rest of the “fixins” for the light.

Supplies Needed To Make Your Own Plug-In Pendant Light:
Screwdriver
Whatever you are turning into the light
I spray painted the planter black before we added the light.
Now……. we have bought many light kits in our day to make these kinds of fixtures, but we have learned that we can save a ton of money picking up cheap lamps and lights at yard sales and thrift stores and repurpose the light part into the new fixture.
We shared the easy process of turning this planter into a plug-in pendant light during our Facebook Live series we started where we are sharing a different DIY project each week. Make sure you are following along with us on Facebook HERE.
