Steps To Create This DIY Scandinavian Advent Calendar
- First, roll out the clay. You don’t want to make it too thin. The stars will be delicate so roll the clay a bit thicker. Work in small batches so the clay doesn’t dry out as you work.
- Once the clay is rolled out, cut out your shapes. You can use any cookie-cutter shape you like.
- Once you have the shapes cut out, use your number stamps to add the numbers to the shape. Also, use the end of a small paintbrush and poke a hole in the top of your shape for hanging.
- Let the stamped shapes dry overnight.
- Once the clay was dry, I used a black pen to color the numbers.
- Next, I stained the wood dowels. I had three wood dowels and used those. You could use on longer dowel or two. You can make this however you like. I just used what I had on hand.
- We drilled holes in the dowels so we could “tie” them together with twine. (See the full video of me making this project below).
- Then, I tied red and white baker’s twine to the holes in the stars at different lengths.
I love the way it turned out. It is so simple but so festive. It reminds me of holiday Scandinavian decor that I love.
As I wrap up this DIY Scandinavian Advent Calendar project, I hope you’re feeling inspired and ready to infuse your holiday season with the warmth of handmade traditions.
