Today, I am sharing a DIY serving tray I made for a fun blog hop I am joining this week. Kendra from Joy In Our Home organized this blog hop with so many creative blogging friends and I am excited to be a part of it. If you are stopping over from 2 Bees In A Pod, welcome!!! It is always fun to collaborate with other creatives to bring you ideas for any season, but it’s especially fun during the holidays. All of the other projects are linked at the end of this post. You are not going to want to miss a single one! I promise!
Gabrielle had a birthday party this past weekend (how in the world is she 13 already????) with her friends and she wanted hot cocoa for it. I thought it would be cute to make a serving tray for the party with the Christmas tree transfer from Chalk Couture. I used the same transfer to make throw pillows too! You can see that project HERE. I love the transfer so much, I wanted to make a few other things with it. That is the best thing about Chalk Couture transfers – you can reuse them many times to get all kinds of different projects out of them.

Supplies Used To Make This DIY Serving Tray:
Wood Board
I found this board at a thrift store. I have no idea what it was from, but I loved the detail around the edge. Matt had to reinforce the back and then, I painted the edge with green paint from Dixie Belle Paint. I painted the center black, chalkboard paint.
Then, it was time to give it some character with the Chalk Couture transfer.
Here is a short video showing you how I made it:
After I got the transfer on the serving tray, I added some Hickory Hardware cabinet pulls to give it handles. I think it turned out super cute.
Gabrielle approved too! After she saw it, she started planning her party around the hot cocoa station. It is so fun to watch her in planning mode. She is getting older and loves the planning process. The best part is that she still thinks mom’s ideas are pretty cool, which makes my heart so happy. I don’t tell her that I notice that though because then my ideas will quickly become “not cool”. #kidsthesedays
Along with the serving tray, I also used one of my favorite things for the cocoa station. This wood letter board would definitely make it on my favorite things list. I have used it for so many things; menus, messages, notes, lists, etc. You can find the board HERE. They offer many sizes and colors. I love that it is solid wood. It will last forever!! It would make a perfect gift any time of year. It’s perfect for that person who has everything.
I am excited to share my friend’s projects with you! Make sure to stop over to visit them all this week! You will be inspired for sure!
