Last weekend, I was so excited to be able to get outside and work on a project!!! It has been so long since I have been able to be outside to work on something. Compared to last year, this winter has been pleasant and last weekend, it was sunny and warm enough to get a small project done. We have had three wood crates in our garage for a long time. I always pick them up at sales because they are great to store things in the garage. We weren’t using these three so I decided to make a DIY Wood Storage Crate system with them. All three of them are the same size so they worked perfect for this project.
Another thing I always pick up at sales are casters. They are so great to make my projects ‘mobile’ and I use them all the time.
To make this station, we stacked them on top of each other and screwed them together. Then, we screwed the four casters on the bottom crate.
I sanded all the crates down before I painted it a soft gray color.
To make it a “Creation Station”, I added some things to it to create with (construction paper, scissors, glue, markers, chalkboards, chalk, etc.).
The Creation Station has moved around the house multiple times. I often find it in my daughter’s room.

This DIY Wood Storage Crate project was very easy to put together. Even though the weather was nice the day we made it, it wasn’t perfect enough to stay outside and get a long project done so this was a great project to get my “project fix” for a while. (I am already itching to get out there and do another one, but as I sit here and write this, it is snowing buckets outside. Projects will have to wait).
Don’t have wood crates lying around? I found some great options online:

I love this! It would be great in my kids playroom and they’d have easy access to their arts and craft supplies, thanks for sharing!
It would be perfect for that!

Thank you Christine!
So cute! I don’t need a create station because I don’t have kids, but I see so many other uses for this project, even just for decorating. It would totally fit into my love of industrial/farmhouse kind of decorating. Nice job!
There are so many uses for these crates! I can think of tons!
What a cute and fun way to stay organized. Thanks for sharing at On Display Thursday! Pinned.
Your welcome!
I’m thinking that 2 or 3 crates stacked in my bathroom for TP and towels would look cute and make up for no linen closet!
Yes! That would be great!
