DIY Spring Decorations are easy to create with a few, simple supplies.
Are you ready for spring decorations?
No?
Okay, truth is, I’m not either, but I had a few thrift store items I picked up and have been moving all around the house until I could make them over. Once we started the family room makeover, I just had to do something with them because they were driving me nuts!!
Clutter and I aren’t friends and when I am just moving things from one place to the other, it gets on my OCD nerves and I usually will just get rid of them. I knew these two pieces could be really cute so I just had to sit down and give them their makeover already.
Hanging baskets are one of my favorite things. The orange color on this one had to go. I have also been moving the wood stand all around our house. The problem was that I didn’t like the dark wood color. So, I was never happy with where I put it. Then, when I was removing all the things from the shelves in our family room so I could paint, a light bulb went off. I had a large glass cloche on the shelves. It would fit on top of the wood stand perfectly.
It was like they were meant for each other. I love when that happens. Once I discovered that fit, these spring decorations came together easily.

Supplies Used To Make These Spring Decorations:
Wood Stand (could use a wood slice too)
Paint
Paint Brush
Sandpaper
Hanging Wicker Basket
Glass Cloche
Nests
Speckled Eggs
Spring Greenery
Paper Mache Bunny
I grabbed “Emmie’s Room” paint color from Magnolia Home Paint and my Zibra Triangle Paint Brush to turn these thrift store items into cute spring decorations for our family room.
Zibra Paint Brushes have changed my paint game. The Triangle Paint Brush is perfect for getting into the nooks and crannies of the wicker basket. I had both pieces painted in under thirty minutes. If you paint furniture or other pieces and haven’t given Zibra brushes a try yet, shame on you. HAHA! Just kidding. But really, you need to give them a try. You will thank me after you do.
Once I put a couple of coats on the wood stand, I distressed the edges with sand paper. I only put one coat of paint on the basket because I still wanted to see some of the wicker poking through.
I added a nest to the wood stand and put the glass cloche on top. Look how well they fit together!!! Can you believe it? Insert all of the happy emojis here.
I can use both of these spring decorations all year round. I just need to change out what is in the basket and under the cloche and I have new decor for whatever season we are in. #winning
This little vignette will change many times before spring is actually here. I am happy to finally have those projects done, And, I have new pieces to play with when the decorating bug bites.
What would you put in the basket?
