DIY Faux Wood Carved Candles For Valentine’s Day

2 Mins read

Lately, I have really been inspired by the wood carvings I have seen on the web and in magazines. I love the rustic way names, words and symbols look carved in wood. I was inspired to make some very, very easy DIY Faux Wood Carved Candles for Valentine’s Day this year.

After seeing so many wood carving ideas, I thought it would be fun to have candles that had “wood carvings” around them. I think wood wrapped candles that could be customized with whatever carving you wanted is genius (if I do say so myself). I tried to find some online, but came up empty-handed.

Until I figure out how to make the real thing, I came up with a quick and inexpensive way to get the look of what I wanted without all the work. These DIY Faux Wood Carved Candles were born.

Supplies Needed To Make DIY Faux Wood Carved Candles:

Candles

Wood Grain Shelf Paper

Black Sharpie Marker

I grabbed a few candles I had around the house and some These DIY Faux Wood Carved Candles are so easy to make and really make a statement wherever you place them.

I wrapped the candles with the paper (it took a few times to get it laid right) and cut off any excess.

I used a black permanent marker to “carve” what I wanted on the wood.

These candles give me the look I want until I find the real thing. 🙂

And…… they were so easy to make! BONUS!

After I saw the DIY Faux Wood Carved Candles done, I thought they would be so cute at a wedding on the reception tables with the couple’s initials on them. They would also make a cute Valentine gift for teachers, neighbors, friends and co-workers.

They are a little statement for Valentine’s Day that can easily be removed when the holiday is over (but, I don’t think I will be removing mine).

I need to take a minute to mention the burlap ribbon you see in the pictures. I found it at Dollar Tree!

The pink is so pretty. I picked up the natural color burlap ribbon too. (I will be showing you that ribbon on a different project soon). They also had a green color that was perfect for spring. Why I didn’t pick that up too, I don’t know. I am still kicking myself and will be heading back to see if they still have it.

I found some cute candle ideas online if you don’t want to make these:
