Two ingredient foaming handmade soap for the win!!!
Since I have started using essential oils, I have looked into different ways that we can save money and make our own products that we are spending a lot of money on in the stores.
One thing that I always stock up on is hand soap. Our family is pretty religious about washing our hands so it is a product that we fly through. I thought it would be fun experimenting with some different ways to make handmade soap and adding different oils to it to get the exact scent we like.
I found the easiest way to make foaming handmade soap at home! The best part is that the kids loved putting in their opinions about the different scents.
The recipe only calls for two ingredients. You can add essential oils if you like or you can leave them out.

Supplies Used In This Handmade Soap:
Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap
Distilled Water
I bought lavender Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap so I wanted to come up with scent that would blend well with that. We found that a mixture of peppermint and lemon oil worked great with the lavender and was the perfect scent for the kitchen. You can add as many or as little drops of the oils you choose or you can leave it unscented. The castile soap comes unscented and it also comes in other scents so the possibilities are endless!
I do about a ratio of about 1:1. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Sometimes I add more and sometimes it is a little less. Depends on the size of your bottle as well.
I used Chalk Couture transfers on the plastic pumps, but learned quickly that it doesn’t work on plastic. I will be using it on glass bottles next time because I think it is too cute and would make great gifts! The whisks were perfect for kitchen hand soap. Find out more about Chalk Couture HERE.
Here is a short video showing you just how simple the handmade soap process is:
