With the summer months right around the corner, there are so many opportunities to spend endless hours outdoors. Our family takes advantage of the nice weather as much as we can. If we are planning a picnic at our local park or staying home and playing games in the backyard, there are so many ways to get outdoors and soak in the warm temps and bright sunshine. One thing that gets a lot of use when the days get longer and the nights get warmer is our fire pit. We can sit out there and tell stories and roast marshmallows for hours. This post is great for Ice Cream Party Ideas as well.
This time, I wanted to break the rules a little bit and add something different to our smores menu. Sundaes!!! I always like to “break the norm” when I can. If it is having dessert for dinner on Valentine’s Day or going to get ice cream cones in our pajamas, these are memories the kids always talk about and have a lot of fun doing. Sundaes by the fire was a great idea and we could even roast marshmallows to add to our sundaes for Ice Cream Party Ideas!!
To make sundaes easy to eat and easy to handle around the fire pit, I used small Mason jars.
I put one scoop of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of the jar and then let the kids add what they wanted to the top. The winning toppings on this night were chocolate, caramel, whip cream and Crunchkins™ dessert-flavored poppers.
Crunchkins™ are dessert-flavored poppers with a creamy coating and a light crunch center. They come in three delectable flavors: Birthday Cake, Fudge Brownie and Glazed Donut. You can find them in Walmart stores at checkout nationwide. Perfect to remember when you are looking for ice cream party ideas.
The kids loved this spin on our regular smores routine and want to start having sundaes by the fire more often. When the summer months get really hot and we aren’t sitting so close to the fire to stay warm, the sundaes are going to be a welcomed treat.
How does your family like to enjoy the warmer months? What activities are your favorite to do as a family during the summer?
