I am talking about the best paint brushes for furniture makeovers today.
These paintbrushes for furniture are going to change the way you work.
I have been searching and searching for a paintbrush that fits exactly what I need when I paint a piece of furniture. I have tried many, but they were better fitted for painting walls and trim. Then, I heard about Zibra and was excited to give them a try. Painting furniture is fun for me, but it can be stressful when your paintbrush doesn’t apply the paint easily. Matt said to me the other day, “When you have the right tools, the job goes so much smoother and faster.” He was right. He had recently bit the bullet and bought a new bit for his drill. The project was a breeze and it all because he had the right bit. The same goes for painting. You need the right paintbrushes for furniture makeovers.
The piece of furniture that got the makeover for this post was this dresser we pulled from a barn a few weeks ago.
If you follow My Creative Days on Instagram, you got a behind-the-scenes look of our barn pick that day. Matt and I have the most fun picking places like this and spent a few hours there climbing through years of accumulation. We are like kids let loose inside a candy store.
The barn we picked was HUGE! This dresser was in the back of it. We both carried it out to get a better look at it.
As we expected, it had a few issues. Wouldn’t you if you lived in a barn for years and years? The issues didn’t stop us from bringing it home. It still had potential.
I started the makeover with a good cleaning and sanding.

I didn’t want to do a neutral color on this dresser. I wanted a pop of color and chose “Homestead Blue” from Fusion Mineral Paint. This blue is a gorgeous country blue and I thought this dresser needed a “country” color since its formal life was inside a barn. 🙂
Now, to the exciting part. The revelation. The discovery.
Zibra paint brushes. Zibra sent me their painter’s kit. I unboxed it on my Instagram stories and was floored with the different brushes they have! For this barn rescued dresser, I tried the 2″ Palm Pro. There weren’t a ton of curves or intricate legs on this dresser so I knew this would be the brush for the job.
I have small hands and big brushes are hard to maneuver sometimes. This brush fit perfectly in my hand and it felt like an extension of my hand.
It didn’t take long to paint the dresser. The brush was AMAZING! I didn’t even get any tape out for the mirror. The brush cut into the edge easily.
I am hooked on this brush!
This brush is going to see a lot of makeovers.
After the paint dried, I thought about painting the wood knobs it had but decided to leave them. I liked the way they looked against the blue paint.
Can we just take a minute and talk about the fact that the dresser had all the knobs on it after it had been living in a barn for years??? What are the odds of that? I pick up dressers all the time and 80% of the time, they are missing one or all of the knobs. I couldn’t believe this one had them all.
The blue paint made this dresser beautiful again. It was fun to step out of the “neutral” colors for a project and add some color to a piece.
The dresser also had the mirror still attached and intact!! You can see the barn we pulled it out of HERE and see why I was amazed this dresser was in the condition it was when we pulled it out.
This makeover was a breeze. The Zibra paint brush really made it quick and easy. I am telling you…. if you paint furniture, you must give these brushes a try!
