I found this table at a yard sale close to our house. It was only $2! I had to bring it home.

Oven Cleaner (I use the generic brands)

I wanted to try the oven cleaner stripping hack on this table. You can see my full tutorial with a video tutorial on this process HERE.
This doesn’t work with every piece of furniture but when it does, it is an easy way to get the finish off the table.
If it didn’t work, I knew it would give the table a good cleaning which it needed.
As soon as I got the oven cleaner on, it started turning orange and the finish and dirt were coming off the table.
After I scrubbed the table and washed the oven cleaner off, I knew it was not going to give me the results I was looking for.
On to Plan B.

Once the table was dry (after rinsing all the oven cleaner, finish, and dirt off), I started scuff-sanding the entire table to prep it for paint. To learn the difference between scuff-sanding and regular sanding, head to my post HERE.
I was deciding between a green paint color and a more neutral paint color for this round table makeover.
I decided to go with the neutral color “Badlands“.
This was a new color to me. I hadn’t tried it on a piece yet. It is a greige color that leans more gray than beige.
This table needed two coats of paint and it was done. This paint has the primer, paint, and topcoat in one can. It is also self-leveling. A game-changer. It makes projects go faster and it’s less work.
I think the color gave this table a much-needed update. I love paint colors that can fit in with any style.
As someone who likes to change her mind a lot when it comes to decorating, I need colors that will change with me as my styles and esthetics change. This color is perfect for that.
