I have preached and preached for years to always keep a scrap wood pile. There are so many things you can do with scrap wood and it will save you so much money when a project idea comes about. Another way to save money on wood is to pick it up when you find it at thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, and Restore. Whenever Matt and I are out and about and find some great wood pieces at a good price, we pick them up. I am always coming up with ideas for projects and I am not a patient DIYer. When the idea comes, I want to see it come to fruition ASAP. Having a scrap wood pile makes that possible.
