If there’s one thing we furniture flippers need, it’s tools. Of course, it can get pretty overwhelming to figure out which tools you need to flip a piece of furniture successfully. So I thought I’d share with you the top five tools every furniture flipper needs to use on their projects.
These are the exact same tools I use every time I bring home a piece of furniture that needs to be flipped, so I think you’ll find this list helpful.

Take a look…
Continuous Spray Bottle
This is hands-down the best tool for applying paint with a paintbrush and ensuring you don’t have brush strokes when you do. That’s because the water thins out the paint and makes it spread onto the piece of furniture more evenly and without a lot of thick, excess paint.
Maybe the reason why some people don’t like a continuous spray bottle is that they use it wrong, so they don’t get good results. I know a lot of people who spray too close to the piece of furniture or who douse the paintbrush with way too much water. But if you hold the spray bottle away from the piece of furniture before you spray or just mist the paintbrush, you’ll find out why so many of us can’t live without a continuous spray bottle.
Good Paintbrushes
If I could only have three tools to ensure my flips turn out the best every time, good paintbrushes would make the list every single time.
Why?
Because good paintbrushes will not fall apart when you are applying paint. Good paintbrushes will apply the paint evenly and smoothly. Good paintbrushes are easier to clean and will last you a very long time.
Want really great results? Then be sure to invest in some real good paintbrushes.
And best of all, good paintbrushes don’t have to cost a lot of money. These paintbrushes are very reasonable and I use them on every painting project I do.
Sander
If you want to give your furniture pieces a flawless look, you need a good sander. The sander I linked here is a great choice, but you can also use any other handheld electric sander of your choice. I love the sander I linked because it comes with so many options and you can use it throughout the entire process from scuff sanding to sanding between coats.
You’ll find that this sander can get around curves and legs with the padded piece that goes under the sandpaper and it is hooked up to your shop vac so all of the sanding dust goes right into the vacuum.
However, the only problem with this sander is that it is an investment. That’s not a deal-breaker, though. All you have to do to get around this problem is set aside money from each flip you do and use my coupon code (see below) to get it paid for. It is definitely worth the investment. You will wonder how you did projects before you had it. It is that good.

The Right Paint
You can’t have a successful flip without the right paint. I encourage people to try out a few different paint lines to see what they like the best. My favorites are this one and this one. Having the right paint will ensure the makeover is something you are excited about doing and if you are comfortable with how the paint goes on projects, the entire process will be more successful. Finding a paint brand you love and work with all the time makes you more comfortable and as you keep working with it, you will know exactly what projects need as soon as you see them.
Cleaning Solution
I wrote a post all about HOW to clean a piece of furniture before painting. It is the one step in the process you do NOT want to skip. If you don’t clean your piece properly, the makeover process and the outcome will not be successful. The cleaning solution can be a lot of things. Most of the time, I use vinegar and water or Dawn dish soap and water. I have also used cleaning products from the different paint brands that I use. It doesn’t have to be anything grand or complex. I have had some pieces that need a stronger cleaner like TSP or something similar, but 9 times out of 10, good ol’ vinegar and water will do the trick.
Now let’s wrap things up…
You want to flip furniture easily, efficiently and for the most profit, right? Then be sure to use the tools I discussed above. These tools are sure to save you time, money, and effort on every project and they will ensure the process is successful every time. So, give these Top 5 Tools Every Furniture Flipper Needs To Use a try on your next flip – you’ll be glad you did.
