Thrifted Christmas Decor For Your Home

Christmas has definitely made it to our home. This year, I have really enjoyed being able to take my time with decorating for the Christmas season. I started decorating in the back porch. Once the back porch makeover was complete, I knew it would be the first room I tackled for the holidays. Every year, when I get the Christmas decorations out, I am reminded of what I had found throughout the year at yard sales and thrift stores. It is like opening Christmas presents early. I always forget a few things I stashed away and enjoy every minute of seeing them again when I pull things out. I save so much money with our thrifted Christmas decor that I wanted to share with you how I decorated for the holidays without breaking the bank.

I got excited all over again when I opened the box of mini Christmas trees I scored at a yard sale this past summer. They were brand new! The lady was going to use them for something and never did so they still had the price tags on them. She had ten of them for 50¢ each!! I bought them all and I am so happy I did. They really came in handy when I needed to add a little something in different spots.

In the background, you can see the Rustic Christmas Tree Decoration I shared on Monday and some buffalo-checked reindeer I found in the Hot Spot at Target.

Natural-looking garland is my favorite. I like all the twigs, pine cones and greenery together. There is nothing better. I will not, however, pay a ton of money for it. I can’t believe how much garland is sometimes!! Whenever I find it at yard sales and thrift stores I pick it up. The garland above our DIY farmhouse barn lighting was a yard sale score for $3. I will pay that all day long.

Vintage scales never get old. I have them out all year long. They are so fun to decorate for different seasons and this little vignette came together for less than $7 (including the scale!!).

I had to get another picture of the garland on the farmhouse porch lighting. They are a perfect match for the Christmas season.

I just found this Christmas tree from the thrift store a few days ago. It cost $8!! When we got the back porch makeover done, we said it would be nice to get a small tree for it. This one has the natural look and it came with a bonus. Lights that worked and lights that I liked! Score! I am really thinking about leaving the tree bare unless I find something that really inspires me to add to it.

The green bench beside the tree was a $6 estate sale find. It is the perfect green color and we thought it would be good to try a bench there for taking off and putting on shoes.

One of my readers asked if I would share my thrifted Mason jar caddy styled for Christmas.

Here it is!

Thrifted Christmas decor can be anything you make it. For this little corner, I used what I already had on hand. I put raffia in the bottom of each Mason jar. Then, I added a couple wood pine sprigs (cut from the natural garland on the farmhouse lighting) and tied red and white baker’s twine around the necks of the jars. I added more greenery inside the caddy and tied a plaid scarf to the hook behind it. 

This little corner is another vignette put together by thrifted Christmas decor. I found everything here at a yard sale (except the lamp which was a $12 TJ Maxx clearance find) for under $10.

The succulent planter was an easy project that I will be sharing on the blog very soon.

I brought our living room chair in the porch so we had room for the Christmas tree in the living room. I really like the chair in this corner of the porch now. Hmmmmm. What are the odds that I will find a new living room chair to replace this one by the time we take the Christmas tree down? I am officially on the hunt.

Use what you have, add a few seasonal touches and head to your local thrift store. You will be amazed how fast (and inexpensively) your home can be transformed for the Christmas season.
